Hope for Animals in the Kentucky Flood Zone

October 2022

A few weeks ago HSCC friend and animal advocate Melanie Wilder went on a road trip with crucial supplies to the terrible flood areas of Eastern Kentucky. Those that know Melanie will tell you that she has a big heart for homeless animals. HSCC also reached out to our donors asking for supplies for the animals effected by this disaster. Your response was tremendous and we ended up driving our own vehicle to a shelter in the area.

While in Kentucky, Melanie saw many animals in desperate need. But one stood out more than others, her name was Pepper. Her sweet face said it all, and her condition could only leave us to imagine what she’d endured. Well…Pepper hitched a ride back to Hickory with Melanie, and we’re very happy to say is now a much loved resident at our shelter!

We know there are more Peppers left behind in the tragedy that continues to unfold in Kentucky. We also know that it doesn’t take a natural disaster for animals to be lost and abandoned. What we do know is that it takes ALL of us to pitch in and help when people and animals face such troubling times.

There is always more that HSCC can do … more animals who need us… who need YOU!

Donate today and we will rescue more of these unfortunate animals. With your help, we will get them fit and healthy, and ready for adoption and a new life, through HSCC.

If you are interested in adopting sweet Pepper fill out an application today at www.catawbahumane.org.
