Melanie Wilder was recently awarded the 2024 North Carolina Governor’s Award for Volunteer Service for her work as a Meals on Wheels volunteer.

Mel began volunteering with Meals on Wheels in 2020. She learned that our seniors had a need for pet food, and she has been a dedicated volunteer ever since. She is an integral part of our pet food program. We notify her of our current needs each month, and she meets the need promptly. With Mel’s assistance, we are able to help approximately 115 seniors feed their furry companions. Mel has a keen passion for assuring that animals are cared for and loves helping our seniors.

Mel is also a volunteer for Hartman’s Haven Dog Rescue, and she is very instrumental in meeting other needs in the community.

Mel’s dedication and compassion have truly made a difference in the lives of many seniors and their beloved pets, as well as her community. Her commitment is both heartwarming and inspiring!
